What does the study involve

What will happen if I take part?

Here's what to expect: 

You'll meet with a doctor or nurse to go over your medical history, have a routine health check including - 

• A blood pressure check 

• Heart rate check 

• An ECG - tracing of your heart rhythm

You'll fill in questionnaires about why you previously stopped your tablet. 

You'll record your symptoms in a smartphone app wich you will be trained how to use. if you do not have a smartphone one can be provided for you. 

After the Study

With your permission we'll share your results with your usual heart failure team - you'll continue your usual care with your usual doctor and be able to make a more informed choice about whether to continue your beta-blocker. 

12 months later we'll check in once more to see how you're doing. 

Key info:

1. Total study time - 15 weeks with a check in 1 year later

2. Travel costs will be reimbursed 

3. You may withdraw at any time

What will happen to you?

Your Role

You'll take tablets during certain weeks, as directed by us, the research team. These tablets will be either: 

• A beta-blocker - which will be labelled and you will know this is what you are taking. 

• A beta-blocker tablet - which is not labelled and you will not know this is what you are taking. 

• A placebo tablet - this is a tablet with no medicine. It will be unlabelled so you will not know what you are taking. 

• Nothing at all

Each day you'll report how you're feeling using a simple smartphone app - or by phone if preferred. The app takes around a minute a day.
